Chapter 75

Nathaniel Smith leaned weakly against the headboard while Helen Turner carefully tucked the blanket around him.

"Mom, what exactly happened to me?" he asked hoarsely. Seeing his parents, sister, and brother-in-law gathered around the bed, he sensed something serious had occurred.

At his question, Helen's eyes welled up with tears again. She wiped them away and said, "You almost... If it weren't for your brother-in-law's colleague's relative—a brilliant doctor—you might have..."

Charles Turner, relieved to see his son's improved condition, finally let out a breath. "Once you recover, you must properly thank her."

Nathaniel nodded. Though he couldn't recall the details, the fact that his entire family had rushed here meant it must have been dire. No wonder he'd felt like he was dying during his unconsciousness—until a sudden, cooling sensation had spread through his body.

"Understood," he murmured softly.

Helen suddenly stood up. "Should we call the doctor back? What if there are complications..." She wrung her hands nervously.

The five military medical experts nearby nodded eagerly. They were desperate for another chance to meet the mysterious female doctor.

Charles glanced at Andrew Smith. Since this involved his fiancée, he couldn’t force the matter.

"I'll ask," Andrew said, heading out. He wouldn’t make decisions for Luna.

Helen frowned at her husband. "Why has Andrew been running around handling everything?"

Richard Adams chimed in immediately, "That doctor is Andrew’s fiancée!" He was now utterly in awe of Luna, having completely forgotten his earlier skepticism.

"What?" Helen's eyes widened in shock. "Andrew is engaged to such an incredible doctor?"

Richard lowered his voice conspiratorially. "Exactly. Everyone thought he’d end up with Rain Johnson..."

Just then, Andrew returned.

"Luna says Nathaniel is fine now. Just stick to light meals for the next couple of days," he relayed.

Helen immediately turned to her son. "You heard that? Plain congee only!"

Nathaniel slumped back against the pillows, then suddenly perked up. "Andrew, since when did you have a fiancée?"

Andrew chuckled and shook his head. "Focus on resting. Don’t worry about it."

In the next room, Luna White was tying her hair into a ponytail in front of the mirror. She felt she’d recovered unusually fast this time—Andrew really was her lucky charm.

"All set?" Andrew pushed the door open and found her already refreshed and ready.

"Yeah, just a bit weak earlier. I’m fine now," she said with a smile.

"There’s a whole crowd outside waiting to meet you," Andrew reminded her.

Luna rolled her eyes. "Those experts?"

Before she could say more, Fiona Turner knocked and entered. "Dr. White, lunch is ready. Please come out and eat."

Andrew winked at Luna. "You should at least give them a chance to thank you."

Luna sighed and shrugged. Andrew opened the door for her and gestured grandly. "After you."

The playful gesture made her laugh. She was realizing that this disciplined military man wasn’t just attentive—he also had a knack for lifting her spirits, completely shattering her stereotypes about soldiers.

Fiona, waiting anxiously outside, finally relaxed when they emerged. She stole curious glances at Luna, eager to get a proper look at the woman who’d saved her brother’s life.
