"What are you doing?" Layla panicked, unable to contain her scream.

She was anxious like a cat on hot bricks, her whole body heating up.

"Eating a bunny." Samuel pressed her down, his intense gaze fixed on her and his Adam's apple bobbing.

"If you touch me, I'll..." Layla threatened, but her words died off.

Samuel raised an eyebrow, expectant.

'What can a little bunny do?' he thought with curiosity.

"I'll scream. I don't think you want your family to know you're a shameless rogue, being in resorting to violence against a woman, right?"

Samuel fell silent.

Then he replied, "They would think we're having some kinda fun."

Being shocked, Layla yelled in her heart, 'How could there be such a shameless man in the world?'

"It's early in the morning! What are you..."

"Don't you know that men are most 'impulsive' in the morning?" he interrupted.

"Go find some other women. I'm not someone you can touch." Layla may be poor, but she had dignity!

"Unfortunately, you're the only woman I wanna touch," Samuel said with a decisive tone.

Her determined expression made him really wanna control her. Originally, he just wanted to tease her, but now he couldn't help being genuinely intrigued by her. A strong desire surged within him.

"I'd rather die than let you touch me!" Layla's face showed her innocence and determination. "You think you're powerful? Real powerful men make women willing, not by using force."

Samuel sneered. His naturally icy eyes became even more charming due to a touch of scarlet. "This trick doesn't work on me. However, I don't want your blood splattered here," Samuel said, kissing her lips before getting up.

Layla wiped her mouth forcefully, repulsed as if a bug had just kissed her. "No more sneak attacks."

"This isn't a sneak attack. It's a kiss in broad daylight," Samuel said nonchalantly.

His tall figure stood there, with sunshine gilding his chest, resembling an ancient Greek sculpture, strong and aesthetically pleasing.

Layla was dumbfounded by his perfect physique, her heart rate accelerating.

She felt that Samuel's presence was too overwhelming, and she couldn't stay with him any longer.

She hurriedly rolled off the bed and ran to the laptop, where the file was already saved on the desktop.

Last night, she fought to stay awake but fell asleep as soon as she finished typing. She wondered, 'Did he save it for me?'

She had to give him credit for having a humane side.

However, she wouldn't forgive his inappropriate behavior just because of this.

Afraid to meet Samuel's eyes or say a word, Layla left the room. But she bumped into Dylan. "It's not what you think!"

"Ms. Adkins, good morning," Dylan said with a pleased smile.

Layla was suddenly at a loss for words. She went back to her room, changed into a different outfit that was left there for her, and went downstairs for breakfast.

Her stomach was growling, and she didn't want Samuel to ruin her appetite.

"Is this all for breakfast today?" Samuel asked Dylan, looking up. "Someone said last night that she'd rather die than knock on my door."

Layla almost spat out her milk, thinking, 'How petty!' She had hoped he would've forgotten her words. But unfortunately, he still remembered. She couldn't help giving him a disdainful look.

Samuel continued lazily, "But the fact is that she came to knock on my door, sleep in my bed, and cling on to me all night..."

"Can you stop making things up? I used your laptop to write a document until I fell asleep. That's it. Nothing happened between us," Layla quickly clarified. However, Dylan and the maids all believed Samuel's words, and Layla felt extremely embarrassed.

Especially the person across from her, who was reading a newspaper with a strange grin on his lips. She couldn't bear to sit there any longer and excused herself from this room.

As Layla approached the restroom, she heard a few maids gossiping.

"Is Ms. Adkins Mr. Holland's girlfriend?" one maid asked curiously.

"No way! She doesn't have the demeanor of a lady at all. Didn't she say she's an intern?" another maid remarked.

"An intern at the Holland Group? I see how she managed to catch Mr. Holland's attention. But how could Mr. Holland be interested in a lowly intern? From what I can see, she's just average-looking. Maybe it's because she's a bit younger?" This maid sounded a little jealous.

"Maybe Mr. Holland simply likes that kind of woman. After all, she spent the night in his room and was desperately trying to explain it away just now. Oh, come on!"

"Exactly! It's strange how a man of Mr. Holland's age still falls for her act, believing she's truly innocent. An innocent woman uses work as an excuse to knock on a man's door late at night? That's ridiculous!"

"Mr. Holland is just playing around with her. He won't marry a woman like her."

When Layla was dating Vincent, there were often girls gossiping behind her back, saying she wasn't a good match for him and that she was manipulating him.

She had heard these kinds of comments a lot and had become numb to them. She wouldn't get angry. But deep down, she still felt hurt slightly.

On her way to the company, she kept a gloomy expression on her face.

"Please don't say those misleading words in the future," Layla said to Samuel.

Samuel was busy reading documents and didn't look up. He casually responded, "What words?"

"I mean, about me and you..." Layla blushed and didn't continue.

"Aren't those the truth?" Samuel's tone was indifferent, showing no sign of impropriety. His gaze never left the documents.

"But last night, I didn't..." Layla tried to explain but couldn't find the right words.

"Last night, no, but before that, yes. Do you want me to say that you passionately threw yourself at me that night? Love between a man and a woman is nothing to be ashamed of. It's your own mindset that has issues." It was the first time Samuel spoke so much.

"But you're spreading it around, and that's not right. Also, are you unpopular now so that no one pay to sleep with you?" Layla argued, not in a good mood.

Samuel looked up and gave her a mocking look. "What? You wanna have exclusive access to me?"

"I don't!" she pouted.

"Then who does?"

"I don't care. Anyway, I don't want it," Layla said disdainfully.

Samuel smirked, "Did your work go smoothly yesterday?"

"There were some issues, but resolved in the end."

"That proves I was right. Being with me brings good luck to you." Yesterday, Samuel had helped her solve the problems, but he wouldn't take credit as he didn't need her to know about those things.

"Well, it's more like bad luck. After meeting you, I haven't had a single peaceful day. Stay away from me at work and don't greet me," Layla reiterated as she pushed open the car door.

"Don't forget about tonight's dinner," Samuel reminded her.

Layla wanted to say that she didn't wanna cook for him, but she held back.

Cooking for Samuel wasn't what she wanted to do, but in order to repay the debt as soon as possible, she would endure it. Not in a good mood, she replied, "I know. I'll leave work early today."

She was rarely so obedient.

Samuel closed the file, and his silhouette softened in the morning sunlight. "Give me a kiss, and you'll have better luck."

"No way," Layla refused without any hesitation.

"I'll be going out this afternoon. Jacob will pick you up at the entrance at six," Samuel said.

"Tell him to wait at the back door," Layla quickly reminded him.

"A secret affair? I like it!" Samuel said, his mouth curling up with a hint of intrigue.

Layla arrived at the company and completed all the preliminary preparations before the meeting. However, Molly had been unhappy with her all day, giving her disapproving looks since the meeting began.

Layla kept self-reflecting but couldn't figure out what she had done wrong.

In the afternoon, when they were exchanging reports, Molly furrowed her brows and asked Layla, "Is your outfit JR?"
