Chapter 30

The smoke irritated Layla's throat. Vincent never used to smoke before.

Layla forcefully pushed Vincent, shouting, "You despicable jerk! How could you do this?"

"You betrayed me yet still blame me?" Vincent retorted.

"Vincent, you're the one who slept with prostitutes."

"That's because you always rejected me, remember? If you were willing to sleep with me, I wouldn't have been tempted." Vincent confidently shifted all the blame onto Layla, and he smirked mockingly, "I knew it. You refused me because you were afraid that I would find out you weren't a virgin.

"Layla, you're really a great actress. I cherished you as a pure girl and waited for you for four years. But you had betrayed me long ago. Now you're even involved with my uncle. You bitch!"

"Your uncle?" Layla was astonished.

She stared at Vincent in disbelief.

'So that's why there's a slight resemblance between Vincent and that man? I thought it was just my illusion,' she thought to herself.

This was too shocking to her.

Vincent regretted his impulsive words, but it was too late. He responded, "That's right! What? Didn't he tell you the truth? You keep saying you know who he is? Do you really think you're so attractive that he would be interested in you? He approached you just because he has a grudge against my mom. You're just a tool for him to seek revenge on me! Seducing your boyfriend's uncle, how disgusting!"

The next second, Layla gave Vincent a hard slap across the face and shouted, "About me and him, it's none of your business."

"You slapped me? How dare you?" Vincent was a proud person, and after receiving the slap, he immediately became furious. He clenched his fist, restraining himself from hitting back, but his arm was already bulging with veins.

"If I wanna slap you, I slap you. Now give me back my scholarship!" Layla glared at him.

Vincent's face had the imprint of a slap, and his expression became even more ferocious, far from his usual gentle and serene appearance. "I say it's not yours, and it's not yours! Never!"

He grabbed her wrist, pulling her close. With a sinister smile, Vincent continued, "You want money, right? Have sex with me, and I'll give you."

"In your dreams! I would never let scum like you lay a finger on me."

"Stop pretending to be a virgin. You were dating both me and my uncle at the same time. What can't you do? I'm still willing to have sex with you. Why refuse, you slut?"

"Vincent..."

Before Layla could finish her sentence, a heavy iron fist smashed into Vincent's face with a bang.

Vincent let out a miserable cry and fell to the ground.

Meanwhile, Layla was pulled into a strong embrace. It was Samuel. Though he had a fierce aura, in that moment, his presence still made her feel at ease.

She looked in astonishment at Samuel, who suddenly appeared. His face was tense and sullen, and his fists clenched tightly.

He looked terrifying. Fortunately, it wasn't directed at her. She wouldn't have been able to withstand a punch from him.

Samuel was always calm, and this was her first time seeing anger in his eyes.

'Is it because of me?' Layla couldn't help wondering, and her heart pounded rapidly.

Vincent's right cheek instantly turned swollen. He scrambled up in a panic and didn't dare to fight back or even think of escaping. But unwillingness drove him to growl, "You stole my girlfriend, and now you hit me. You've gone too far!"

"Layla is mine." Samuel firmly held Layla's shoulder, his possessive action declaring his ownership. Like a majestic lion, he exuded a deadly dominance from head to toe. "Since the previous warning didn't work on you, only a punch can sober you up."

Vincent's eyes reddened with anger, but there was nothing he could do. He couldn't win the fight, and retaliating would only let him end up being beaten to death.

At this moment, Vincent was like a yapping Chihuahua, while Samuel was a powerful and imposing Mastiff.

The disparity in their aura and influence was immense. Vincent resented it! But he dared not curse Samuel and could only angrily point at Layla, yelling, "She's just a promiscuous woman. We were both deceived by her."

"I suggest you mind your words." Samuel took a step forward, causing Vincent to immediately retreat in fear, nearly tripping over himself and trembling all over.

"Layla, you'll regret being with him," Vincent shouted before fleeing.

'Worthless boy,' Samuel snorted in his heart, his eyes filling with contempt.

"It's over." He looked at Layla in his arms, his gaze losing its sharpness.

"I don't need your help!" Layla angrily pushed his hand away, like a suddenly startled kitten.

Samuel frowned. Every time he helped her, she showed no gratitude and instead snapped at him.

But as a man, he didn't wanna argue with a little girl.

"Go home and cook," he said.

Layla's eyes widened, and she gritted her teeth. "I'll never go back with you again." Her tone filled with hostility towards him.

A flash of anger crossed Samuel's eyes. "So you'd rather let him humiliate you like that? You still love him?"

Layla snorted in her heart, 'Love him? No. I was so stupid and regret wasting four years of my youth on a scum. Even a dog is better than him.'

Vincent's true face revealed itself after their breakup. The thought of ever loving such scum made Layla feel disgusted.

But at the same time, she didn't think Samuel was better than Vincent. She detested both of them.

"Don't come to me again in the future!" Layla left with a cold face, not wanting to argue with Samuel.

But Samuel didn't allow it and blocked her path.

"Get out of my way, you liar!" Layla looked coldly at him.

"Liar?"

"Hiding the fact that you're Vincent's uncle. If that's not a lie, then what is it?"

"That doesn't matter!" Samuel said in a deep voice.

Before dawn that day after they met, he had no idea she was Vincent's girlfriend. But that didn't matter to him anyway.

'Doesn't matter?' Layla couldn't help but sneer silently, and her eyes reddened.

She roared at Samuel, "You think it doesn't matter? It's just because you're arrogant and self-righteous, thinking that you can manipulate everyone. You approached me for revenge against Vincent and his mother, didn't you?"

Samuel only thought this accusation ridiculous. He responded with a cold sneer, "I have no interest in manipulating a woman."

"Don't need to explain. I don't care. I never believed in you from the beginning, and I don't wanna have anything to do with you anymore." Layla became extremely calm. Her face showed her patience had run out, and she didn't wanna be entangled with him for one more second. "Go away! Please!"

Her gaze was cold, and her attitude was determined. She didn't even wanna look at Samuel, making him at a loss for words.

He had never met a woman so resolute in severing ties with him.

His pride wouldn't allow him to persist, even if there was a slight reluctance in his heart.

His face also turned cold.

"As you wish," he responded. Then, he turned around, got in his car, and drove away.

The Maybach disappeared into the serene night, taking away his icy breath.

Layla felt like she had just finished a battle, and her tense body instantly relaxed, followed by a headache and profound exhaustion.

Where could she find eight hundred dollars? She had no idea.

The night was dark and boundless.
