Chapter 307

Layla cried, releasing the emotions she had suppressed for so long. Samuel gently stroked her shoulder. "I know you've been through a lot. It's okay to cry it all out." That night, Layla fell asleep in Samuel's arms, finding a sense of peace she had longed for. When she woke up, she was greeted by Samuel's handsome face, his eyes sparkling with a beautiful smile.

For a moment, Layla thought she was still dreaming until he kissed her forehead, which made her realize it was all real. She pushed his chest.

"What are you doing here? You should leave." Samuel noticed her discomfort and said, "I slept well holding you last night."

"Your eyes look a bit swollen. I'll have the servant bring you a warm towel."

Samuel had been rejected by her several times. He had learned to gauge an appropriate distance, not to press her too hard, or it would be counterproductive. Only within that acceptable range could she be less resistant to his approach.

Layla was used to his playful nature and ignored him, considering him a nuisance. Samuel, noticing her discomfort, kicked Joseph's chair and said, "Focus on your meal and stop talking nonsense."

"Am I talking nonsense? What I'm saying is the absolute truth." Joseph took a sip of his milk. "I mean. Everything can be solved by making love. If making love once is not enough, then you do it twice..."

"Shut up!" Samuel scolded him.

Although Layla's blushing was adorable, he didn't want her to feel too embarrassed.

Samuel stifled a laugh. Layla was not someone to be trifled with.

"I'm a chatterbox. I feel uncomfortable if I don't talk for a second. I have a mouth, and I will speak if I want to," Joseph shouted at Layla very annoyingly.

"Can't your mouth be shut even when you are eating?"

"I have finished eating, so now I'm full of energy. I can talk for three days. If you can't bear it, hit me. Come on! Hit me!" Joseph said with a playful smile.

Layla couldn't help but think to herself, 'What a childish man.'

She used to think Joseph was arrogant and self-centered, but now she realized he was just a man who needed a good beating. "Come on, hit me," Joseph taunted. Samuel, with a faint smile, said, "Just a reminder, she knows martial arts. Are you ready to take a beating?"

"You'd let her hit me?"

"Hit him as you please," Samuel said, seemingly nonchalant.

"You're heartless! Giving up your brother for a woman, are you even human?"

"You asked for it."

"I'm only looking out for you." The two continued their banter, but Layla, finding it childish, got up and went to the kitchen, asking the maid to call the chef.

"I've prepared the recipe of the week. Please follow these."

"Are you leaving?" the chef asked. Layla nodded. "Yes. I'm leaving tomorrow."

"Samuel is going to miss you."

Layla forced a smile. "Some dishes require special preparation. I'll teach you. Also, his wound hasn't fully healed, so avoid using too much salt," Layla explained carefully, and the chef listened attentively.

"Samuel." the chef suddenly noticed Samuel at the door. They talked for a while, and Samuel seemed to have been there since she walked in.

"You, go out first."

"Yes, Samuel."

"Since you care about me, why not stay and take care of me until my wound is completely healed?" Samuel chuckled, "Who knows if I might become lovesick, or my condition will worsen after you leave."

"Are you threatening me?"

"You say you don't want to, but you're still doing it." Layla laughed with a hint of sarcasm. "Let's not talk about this anymore. I'll go upstairs and pack." She passed by him. Samuel watched her figure and thought, 'Layla, I will never give up on you.'

"Baby, I've taken care of things here and will come back to see you as soon as possible. I really don't have any other women. I'm with my brother. He's injured. Shouldn't I take care of him? Be a lamb. I've already had someone send you that limited edition Hermes bag." Joseph hung up the phone, opened Facebook, and saw dozens of messages from beautiful women.
