Samuel hung up the phone and turned around. When the decisive man saw Layla, he smiled gently. "You're back."

Layla stared blankly at him. "What's going on?"

Samuel raised the supermarket bag in his hand. "I'm delivering food."

It was a food delivery, but not quite.

Layla couldn't help but chuckle. "Food deliveries are usually ready-made and delivered. What you're doing doesn't quite fit the bill as food delivery."

"I'm ready-made, so why not choose me first?" Samuel smirked.

"I'm not interested in human flesh," said Layla dismissively.

"This isn't ordinary human flesh. It's a sexy body," Samuel said.

Layla was speechless. Samuel was good-looking and had a great physique, so everything he said seemed right!

Layla took out her keys to open the door.

"Give me a set of keys. It's cold outside," Samuel said.

"No one asked you to wait," Layla retorted.

Changing tactics, Samuel said, "I'll start cooking early so you can have a ready-made meal as soon as you get back. Isn't that nice?"

"Why do you have so much free time?" Layla asked.

"I make time for things that are worth it," Samuel said.

He could make millions in an hour, but the value of cooking for her was priceless.

"Sweet talk," Layla muttered. After opening the door, she reached out to take the bag from his hand.

Samuel pulled it away. "I'll do it. It's heavy."

"It's okay. Just give it to me."

Samuel realized what was going on. "So, I should just leave the stuff here and go?"

Layla nodded. "That's exactly what I mean. Isn't that how food deliveries work? Have you ever seen a delivery guy staying after delivery?"

Layla was quick-witted. Samuel couldn't help but chuckle. "My delivery is different. Both the stuff and the delivery guy must stay."

Samuel squeezed in through the door, took off his shoes, and swiftly entered the kitchen with the ingredients in hand.

Smiling helplessly, Layla closed the door and followed. "It's already 6:30p.m.. I'll be starving by the time you finish cooking."

"How about a simple pasta today? I'll showcase my real cooking skills tomorrow."

"Oh. What did you buy?" Layla helped take out the items from the bag and put them in the fridge.

There were steaks, chicken wings, croissants, milk. A bunch of food filled the fridge to the brim.

After admiring the food for a moment, Layla nodded in satisfaction, a smile playing on her lips.

"What are you looking at?"

"I like the feeling of a full fridge," Layla said with a smile. "It feels so homey and lively."

"There's another kind of fullness that's even more wonderful," Samuel said slyly.

"Oh? What?" Layla blushed when she realized what he meant, scolding him, "You're such a pervert!"

Samuel looked innocent. "I meant being emotionally fulfilled. What did you think I meant?"

"I don't believe you for a second." Layla was close to losing her temper.

Samuel shook his head. "I really meant that. You're the one who thought about something else."

He added, "I like your impure thoughts." Lowering his head, he kissed her, taking her off guard.

Layla scolded him.

After taking a shower, Layla could smell food.

She could tell it was delicious just by the smell. After all, he was a certified chef.

Layla picked up the utensils.

"Aren't we taking a photo first?" Samuel held her hand.

"Why should we take a photo?" Layla asked.

"It's my first time cooking pasta for you. Isn't that memorable?" Samuel asked seriously.

"When did you become so tender?" Layla couldn't stand it and gave him a look. "You nerd."

"You should post it on social media," Samuel said.

"So people might think I'm not single anymore, right?" Layla knew what he was up to. She smirked inside.

"You weren't single to begin with."

"I was," Layla insisted.

"You're pregnant," Samuel said.

"Haven't you ever seen a single pregnant woman?" Layla argued confidently. The first bite of pasta was so delicious that she almost wanted to swallow it all.

It was so delicious!

She had always thought her pasta was top-notch, but Samuel's pasta outshone hers by miles.

Tears welled up in her eyes.

"What did you add to the pasta? It's delicious," Layla asked.

"Love."

"I'm serious."

"So am I," Samuel said.

Impatiently, Layla pushed him. "Spill it."

"It's a secret recipe. I won't tell you."

Layla was speechless. "Did you add some kind of love potion?"

Samuel pinched her chin, half-smiling. "I should be asking you what love potion you used on me to make me head over heels for you."

"Stop kidding around. Just tell me," Layla said.

"I can't tell you. How else would I keep you hooked?"

Annoyed, Layla asked, "So, are you planning to cook pasta for me for the rest of my life?"

"I'd love to. You need to give me the keys so I can cook for you."

Layla felt like she was being tricked.

"Think about it. You'll come home to a handsome man cooking a delicious meal for you every day. Isn't that happiness?" Samuel tempted.

Layla couldn't help but fantasize about it for a moment. It did sound nice.

But she had to be rational. "I won't be swayed by two meals."

"If two aren't enough, then we'll have three meals, and if three aren't enough, then we'll have a lifetime. And it's not just meals. There are desserts after dinner." His eyes became extremely seductive.

Layla couldn't help but feel a bit overwhelmed. Even her ears were burning. The allure of a man was stronger than food.

Samuel's throat tightened, and he murmured hoarsely, "Every time you blush and look at me like that, I just want to take a bite out of you and swallow you whole."

His eyes were warm, making Layla feel like she was melting.

Her heart was like a burning fire. Her whole was body warm. She hastily avoided his gaze and dared not look back. In a fluster, she could only stammer, "Eat, eat the pasta, or it'll get cold."

But Samuel only wanted to devour her, leaving nothing behind.

"How was work today?" Samuel asked.

Layla paused with the utensils in hand, then lowered her head. "Same as usual. Pretty good."

Samuel observed her quietly.

After finishing a large bowl of pasta, Layla felt warm all over. She was joyful, her complexion rosier than before. She reached for the utensils, but Samuel did that ahead of her.

"Let me clean up. I don't want to make you work," Samuel insisted.

"I'm willing to work for you." Samuel took two bowls and sets of utensils into the kitchen, placing them in the sink. He turned on the water and washed the dishes efficiently.

The warm light fell on him. His white shirt emitted a faint golden glow, and he seemed unbelievably warm.

Layla remembered the days when Samuel had forced her to cook to repay her debts. Who would have thought that the person cooking and washing dishes in the kitchen today would be him? Did this count as a turnaround for her?

She felt especially warm and secure with him around.

A sudden thought crossed her mind. She wanted to hug him from behind. 'The scene must be heartwarming and beautiful,' she thought.

A smile touched Layla's lips, but she resisted the urge and refrained from doing so.

They were physically close to each other, yet there seemed to be an invisible gap between them. Though it was gradually closing, it hadn't disappeared completely.

Should she hold onto the hope that one day the gap between them would vanish, and they could return to how close they were before?

After washing the dishes, Samuel suggested watching a movie together. But Layla, citing exhaustion from work, coldly refused and ushered him out the door.

"Are you really kicking me out?"
