Layla returned home at ten o'clock, feeling a bit weak in her legs after standing for a long time. She took a shower and still felt tired.

Sitting on the bed, Layla dried her hair while checking her phone.

She found no new messages.

'Is Samuel busy? He must be very busy as the CEO of the Holland Group.'

Layla thought she shouldn't cling to him too much and disrupt his work, but she couldn't resist missing him.

Every time Layla was alone in the apartment, scenes of them together involuntarily appeared in her mind, longing to overwhelm her.

Decided, Layla put down her phone and decided to sleep after drying her hair.

But just as Layla made up her mind, the doorbell rang, and she flew like an arrow to open the door.

Outside the door, Samuel stood in a black high-end custom suit, holding a beautifully packaged cake box in his hand, a smile on his handsome face. "Delivery."

At that moment, Layla was so excited that she wanted to jump into Samuel's arms, but she restrained herself as Samuel bent down to hug her first.

"How come you came over?"

"Didn't I say? Delivery. I don't want you to get upset like last night for not having good food."

"I wasn't upset."

"You were almost in tears." Samuel lightly tapped Layla's nose with his finger and opened the cake.

Layla stuck out her tongue. 'I'm not that childish. I even faced intense competition at work without flinching. I'm a brave, smart, independent woman,' she thought to herself.

However, even the most independent woman could act like a child in front of the man she liked. To be precise, Layla had been pampered into a child by Samuel. Being a 'child' in front of him was quite happy.

She ate a small piece of matcha cake, delicate and cute.

"Don't eat too much, or you'll blame me for making you gain weight."

Layla happily took the spoon and jokingly teased Samuel, "I didn't blame you. It's you who don't want me to eat more because you think I'll get fat."

"You can't control me."

Though Layla enjoyed being a woman, changing genders would be alright.

"Promise me, we'll meet in the next life and be together." Samuel's gaze suddenly turned serious, seeking a commitment from Layla.

With a mouthful of cake, Layla swallowed hard at the change in atmosphere and said, "Isn't it too early to talk about this now? I think people make such promises only when they become old folks."

"Not too early."

"Why? Are you scared?"

"Yes, I'm scared. Scared of not meeting you, so I want to settle it early." Samuel's deep, affectionate tone was also domineering.

Layla's heart skipped a beat.

A man like Samuel probably had never been afraid of anything. Yet, Layla saw genuine concern in his eyes. Even though he knew such promises were futile, as there might not be a next life, he still insisted on her commitment.

Soft-hearted, Layla felt bitter at that moment.

She smiled and said, "Okay, let's be together in the next life."

Only then did Samuel relax. "Thank you, Layla." In the next life, Samuel also wanted to meet Layla and love her.

With only two bites of cake left, Layla suddenly realized and scooped a spoonful to offer to Samuel.

Teasingly, Samuel said, "You remember me only when it's almost finished?"

"Contentment brings lasting joy," Layla complained with a smile.

"Not enough."

"Pervert." Layla grabbed a pillow and playfully hit Samuel.

Layla lay back on the sofa, letting out a comfortable sigh. "It's so relaxing at home, not having to deal with clients."

Samuel's gaze suddenly turned sharp. "Who made you upset?"

"Just a client."

Layla didn't care about others' private lives, but in a relaxed state, she spoke a bit more, "This client is a rich woman who keeps a young man."

"It's quite common. Being single isn't a crime, but her taste is a bit off. That man is not only frivolous but also greasy, looking a bit weak."

"Do rich women all like that kind of man? Or do women's tastes change as they age? Anyway, I don't want a man who needs my financial support. If I become a rich woman in the future, I won't choose that kind of man. I'll choose a strong, muscular one."

The next moment, Layla was pulled up from the pillow. "Why are you pulling my ear?"
