She thought, 'My suitcase is quite small, okay? This is the most basic luggage for a girl. Does everyone travel for business with just one bag and a laptop like him?'

"Dragging the suitcase is convenient..." Layla added.

The flight was delayed by an hour.

Brian sat down and took out his laptop to start working.

"A cup of black coffee," Brian said.

Fortunately, after boarding, Brian kept working with his computer, allowing Layla some peace. He was probably one of the top three workaholics she knew.

"If you can't walk, then go back to City A on your own." Brian raised his hand, pulled away his sleeve, and said to the manager, "Continue."

"But Miss Adkins..." the manager said.

"Enough," Brian shouted.

"Okay." The manager could only express sympathy towards Layla. Even a man like him was tired, let alone a woman. Mr. Evans didn't seem to understand how to care for women, he could be called the most traditional man.

Layla had to lean against the wall, slowly keeping up, and was repeatedly scorned by Brian. She always believed in gender equality and didn't ask for any special treatment as a woman. But Brian was heartless! Was Nora sending him to work her to death?

Brian countered, saying, "If you're fully focused on your work, you don't feel hungry and are most productive at all times."

"People are flesh and blood, not machines. Even if I wanted to, my body wouldn't allow it," Layla added.

Brian narrowed his eyes and sneered. "That only means you're too weak."

Layla mentally shot back. She thought, 'I'm not as strong as you, you're a robot!'

"If you can't hold out, leave on your own. No one is forcing you to stay." Brian finished and turned away without mercy, the bitter manager was also starving, but could only continue to follow him.

The only thing Layla had to do was to force her hunger and work until twelve o'clock at night. She was already so hungry that she was about to faint.

A fast food restaurant near the studio was still open, and Layla carried her own plate, reluctant to be at a table with Brian. But reason reminded her not to make a scene with her boss on the first day of work, so she could only walk over and sit across from him.

Brian still had the same stance of not putting Layla in her place. "You don't have to force yourself to sit with me."
