Chapter 172
Sophia Roscente felt quite pleased with herself.
But she forgot exactly who she was dealing with.
Adrian Sinclair saw right through her.
His voice turned icy. "I'll arrange for your mother to meet you."
"Time and place will be confirmed later."
"What!?" Sophia wailed.
The pillow in her hands dropped to the floor.
She plopped down next to Marcus Hill in a huff.
But one sharp look from Adrian made her jump up.
She quickly moved to sit beside Anna Ross instead.
The two men faced each other.
The air grew thick with tension.
Her plan had failed completely.
Sophia was fuming.
Suddenly, her eyes lit up.
She pulled Anna back a couple of steps.
Anna followed, confused.
Sophia leaned in and whispered urgently. "Sis, please save me."
"I'm too young and beautiful to die!"
Anna couldn't help but laugh at the dramatic phrase.
"You're laughing at me too?" Sophia pouted. "The world is so cruel!"
Anna gently patted her back. "Don't worry. It'll be fine."
"No, you have to help me, sis."
"Cousin listens to you the most!" Sophia clung to her hand like a lifeline.
Anna pressed her lips together, hesitant.
She could barely protect herself right now.
How could she possibly persuade Adrian?
Just then, both men stood up.
Sophia rushed over anxiously. "Where are you going?"
Marcus ruffled her hair. "Don't worry. We're just going outside to talk."
Adrian's gaze instantly frosted over.
Marcus quickly withdrew his hand.
He followed Adrian out.
Sophia looked desperately at Anna. "It's over."
"You don't think Cousin will hit him, do you?"
The thought of Adrian's methods made her shudder.
"They're good friends. They won't fight." Anna pulled her down to sit.
Sophia nodded blankly. "If they do, I hope Cousin goes easy on him."
A thought suddenly occurred to Anna.
She looked at Sophia curiously. "When did you two get together?"
"I live with you every day and didn't notice a thing!"
This was moving way too fast.
Last time they met, everything seemed normal.
How did they suddenly become a couple?
