Anna Ross studied his face, her voice tentative. "Are you jealous?"
The air froze instantly.
She held her breath, waiting for his response.
Adrian Sinclair let out a derisive laugh, his eyes filled with mockery. "Jealous? You think you're worthy of that?"
His slender fingers lifted her chin. "I just hate it when someone touches what's mine."
A cold glint passed through his deep eyes, as if he were looking at a joke.
Anna's heart stung.
So in his eyes, she was nothing but an object.
Those unwarranted hopes now seemed utterly ridiculous.
She stood up and straightened her clothes, her voice distant. "I should go."
As soon as she took a step, a force pulled her back.
The world spun, and she was thrown heavily onto the bed.
Adrian leaned over her, his breath scorching. "Tonight, you're mine."
"Trying to run?" He gripped her wrists. "Not your decision."
Anna struggled futilely, her fists pounding against his chest without effect.
Her eyes reddened, voice trembling. "I don't want to be with you right now!"
He pinched her chin, his grip ruthless. "Don't forget your place."
All her grievances and unwillingness finally dissolved into silent surrender.
In this bewildering night, she could only cling tightly to the person before her.
Adrian felt her compliance and gradually softened his movements.
His kisses fell like gentle spring rain.
The moonlight hid behind clouds, leaving only the sound of intertwined breaths in the room.
Morning light filtered through the curtains.
When Anna woke, she found herself still encircled in his arms.
She quietly turned her head to study his sleeping face.
Stripped of his sharp edges, he actually looked somewhat docile.
Just as she was lost in thought, his eyes suddenly opened.
She panicked and tried to escape, but he pulled her back effortlessly.
His thumb stroked her cheek, his voice lazy. "You performed very well last night."
"Keep it up."
Anna blushed instantly to the tips of her ears.
Remembering the absurdity of the previous night, she turned her head away, refusing to acknowledge him.
