Chloe Valentine's intentions were crystal clear.
Anna Ross walked up to Chloe Lombardi.
Her gaze was calm like still water.
"Director Valentine put you up to this, didn't she?"
Chloe Lombardi's face darkened instantly.
She glared fiercely at Anna.

"No."
"I told you, this is my own revenge."
A flicker of anger passed through Adrian Sinclair's eyes.
He cut in sharply.
"Enough."
"I'm calling her over now."

Then she immediately glued herself to Adrian's side.

"Adrian, you needed me?"

"It was done by this new colleague."

"I'm sorry. I've let you down."

She clung to Adrian's arm.

"To think we have someone like this in the company."
"She must be fired."
Anna pressed on calmly.
"Director Valentine, why did you approve her probation period early?"

"Any other questions?"

"I need to speak with you."
They both looked up.
Adrian approached with one hand in his pocket.

"About what?"
"I'm reassigning this project's lead."

"I insist on working with her!"
"I said no!"
