She anxiously scanned the surroundings, but saw no sign of either man.
As she turned toward the bar's entrance, a familiar figure caught her eye near the counter.
She hurried over, her breath still uneven.
After a careful inspection, she felt relieved neither appeared injured.

"Anna, your performance tonight was extraordinary." Julian Garnache smiled and snapped his fingers.
A server immediately appeared carrying an enormous bouquet.
Vivid red roses nearly engulfed Anna Ross completely.
She stood frozen, unsure how to respond.
Adrian Sinclair's knuckles turned white, his drink trembling slightly.
The crowd around them gasped in awe.
"That bouquet is insane. Is he proposing?"
"So romantic. I'm dying of envy!"
"They look perfect together."
Adrian's icy gaze swept over them, and the chatter died instantly.
People quickly scattered.

"My Executive Assistant and I are heading the same way."

Anna sighed inwardly.
Their residences were in completely opposite directions.
But no one could challenge his decision.
Julian's smile faded.
"Anna, if you'd prefer not to ride with him..."
"I can take you."
Adrian cut him off firmly.
"What do you say, Executive Assistant?"
He stepped closer, his presence radiating undeniable pressure.
Both men's eyes were fixed on her.
Anna took a soft breath.
She turned to Julian with an apologetic smile.
"Julian, my boss and I are indeed going the same direction."
"I won't trouble you further."
She knew exactly which choice to make.
She would bear Adrian's wrath alone.
She could never drag those important to her into this.
