Chapter 267
Anna Ross immediately grew alert upon hearing she was to deliver documents.
She remembered the last incident clearly.
Adrian Sinclair reached for the file. "I'll go with her." He reviewed the documents and walked to her side.
His voice was low. "Stop daydreaming. Let's go."
Anna nodded and followed.
Chloe Valentine hadn't expected this. Jealousy burned behind her eyes.
He was defending another woman right in front of his fiancée. He wasn't considering her feelings at all.
"Adrian, you are not going!" She blocked their path, shooting a glare at Anna.
She pulled Adrian closer, her voice pleading. "I'm your fiancée. How can you visit Grandpa without me?"
Anna's heart constricted. She was merely an outsider.
She took the file. "I'll deliver it."
Adrian started to speak, but Chloe held him back. "I'm sure Executive Assistant Ross wants to contribute to the company."
Anna nodded in agreement and quickly left.
"Wait, I haven't given you the full address." Chloe called after her, checking her phone. "Hilton Hotel, Room 8808."
Anna didn't turn back. "Understood."
The door closed softly.
A smug smile spread across Chloe's face, half-hidden by her hair.
Adrian pulled his hand free. "Why the sudden urge to visit Grandpa?"
He had no desire to discuss the marriage.
Chloe picked up a glass. "Let me get you some water." She moved with eager energy.
Adrian sat down without a word.
She finished pouring the water, her cheeks flushing with shyness. "My parents asked me to check on Grandpa. They also wanted an update on the wedding preparations."
Blushing, she set the water glass down.
Adrian looked at the untouched glass. The Valentine family was getting impatient, as expected.
"We'll go after work." He stood and left the reception room.
Chloe stared at the full water glass, a bitter ache in her eyes.
It didn't matter if he didn't love her. She could endure anything, as long as she became Mrs. Sinclair.
