Anna Ross’s heart tightened.
Why would Grandpa Lowell suddenly appear at the company?

She pressed her lips together and responded softly, "Okay, I'm coming now."
Noah Watson glanced anxiously upstairs and lowered his voice. "Why did you leave your post suddenly? Today is crucial."
He remembered repeatedly reminding her not to leave without permission during work hours.
She was always careful. How could she make such a mistake?
Anna lowered her gaze. "There was an emergency. I didn't have time to ask for leave."
She paused, her voice very quiet. "I'll accept any punishment."
Noah hesitated.
This time, it probably wouldn't be just a simple punishment.
He silently led her to the conference room door and waited outside.
Anna pushed the door open.
Grandpa Lowell sat at the head of the table, his face dark with anger.
Chloe Valentine stood beside him, triumph shining in her eyes.
"Anna Ross?" The old man gave her a cold glance.
Anna nodded.
It was Chloe's doing again, as expected.
Grandpa slammed his hand on the table. "Company rules clearly state no unauthorized absence during work hours."
His tone was severe. "You know the consequences."
He thought of his disappointing son and grew more determined to remove this girl.
Chloe spoke softly. "Grandpa, Executive Assistant Ross has helped Adrian a lot..."
She feigned concern. "Adrian values her highly. Perhaps we can be lenient?"
Anna gave her a cool glance.
The other woman's schadenfreude was almost overflowing.
Grandpa became even angrier. "Rules are rules!"
He stated firmly, "Go pack your things now."
Anna did not look up.
She could feel the two pairs of disgusted eyes on her.
Chloe pretended to step forward and take her hand. "Executive Assistant Ross, I really want to help you..."
Anna withdrew her hand and coldly stepped back half a step. "No need for your concern, Miss Valentine."
Grandpa grew more displeased seeing her attitude.
Just then, the conference room door suddenly swung open.
Howard Lowell walked in reluctantly.
Under his father's furious gaze, he stood beside Anna.
"Dad, what did Anna do wrong?" He spoke while giving Anna a meaningful look.
Chloe's heart tightened.
What if Grandpa softened?
She couldn't let all her efforts go to waste now.
Grandpa snorted coldly. "Ask her yourself."
He was merciless. "Take her away from the company after you're done."
Howard's heart sank.
His father was unusually resolute this time.
Chloe secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
