Cecilia Roscente shook her head helplessly, her eyes filled with affection.
She took her daughter's hand, preparing to go downstairs.
The hallway was quiet, with only the sound of their footsteps.
Sophia Roscente suddenly stopped, tilting her head to listen.
A faint, familiar sound came from the next room.
She looked at the closed door, her brow slightly furrowed.
"Mom, is someone staying in this room?"
Cecilia also stopped, glancing at the door.
"It should be empty." As soon as she spoke, she heard the noise too.
Mother and daughter exchanged a look. Sophia stepped forward to investigate.
The door was unlocked. It opened with a gentle push.
The moment it opened, she regretted it.
Chloe Valentine frantically grabbed the sheets to cover herself.
Tears welled in her eyes, making her look pitiful.
Adrian Sinclair stood by the bed, his expression darkening instantly.
Cecilia entered the room. Her smile froze immediately.
Chloe hurried to explain, "Auntie, please don't misunderstand..."
"Adrian was drunk last night. Nothing happened between us."
Sophia let out a sharp cry, turned, and ran.
She couldn't accept what she was seeing.
She had always hoped her cousin would end up with Anna Ross.
But now, everything was ruined.
Cecilia gave the bed a cold glance before turning to leave.
The door closed, restoring silence to the room.
Adrian looked at Chloe, his gaze icy.
"What happened last night..."
Chloe tightened the sheets around herself, her voice soft. "Adrian, I was willing."
"I don't blame you." She lowered her head, exposing her slender neck.
The man's eyes darkened. He remained silent for a long time.
"I see," he said flatly.
Chloe bit her lip and looked up, but Adrian was already rising.
He picked up his clothes and walked straight into the bathroom.
A smile touched Chloe's lips.
She gently touched the bruises she had pinched into her own skin.

Right after clocking in, she ran into Adrian Sinclair.
They both froze.
She hesitated about whether to greet him.

She turned and walked in the opposite direction.

After work, she took a taxi directly to the bar.
