Marcus Hill grabbed Adrian Sinclair’s wrist.
He snatched the wine glass away.
"Stop drinking," he said in a low voice. "Do you want to ruin your stomach?"
Adrian’s eyes were bloodshot.
He shook off Marcus’s hand and stumbled toward the bottle.
"None of your business."
Sophia Roscente stamped her foot in frustration.
She grabbed the bottle and slammed it on the table.
"Adrian! Who are you trying to impress by drowning yourself like this?"
"If you can’t let her go, then go after her!"
Adrian suddenly laughed.
The sound was harsh and grating.
He covered his eyes with his hand, his shoulders trembling slightly.
"Go after her?"
"How can I?"
He opened his eyes, revealing red veins.
"That morning when I woke up..."
"I saw her lying beside me."
"Do you know how I felt?"
Marcus frowned.
Sophia looked away.
Adrian took another gulp of wine.
The liquid dripped down his jaw and into his collar.
"I tried to hate her."
"I tried to humiliate her."
"But the more I did..."
"The more I couldn’t forget."
His voice grew softer.
It almost became a whisper.
"I’m so useless..."
Sophia suddenly pulled out her phone.
"I already called her."
Marcus looked up sharply.
"You called Anna Ross?"
Adrian froze.
He instinctively straightened his collar.
His eyes darted around nervously.
"No..."
"She can’t see me like this..."
He struggled to stand.
But he staggered from the alcohol.
A woman in a red dress approached.
A strong perfume filled the air.
"Handsome, drinking alone is boring."
"Let me join you?"
Adrian was about to push her away.
Then he saw a familiar figure at the door.
He paused.
In the next second, he wrapped his arm around the woman’s waist.
He buried his face in her neck.
A self-mocking smile touched his lips.
