Sophia Roscente hurried to the bedside.
She leaned down and asked softly, "Anna, are you okay?"
"I was only gone for one night. How did you get hurt?"
Her gaze fell on the bandage wrapped around Anna Ross's neck.
She couldn't help but gasp.
Anna was still lost in her earlier shock.
She didn't hear the question at all.
Just then, Adrian Sinclair turned around.
Sophia blinked, realizing she probably shouldn't be here.
"Um, I'll let you two talk. I'm going to buy something."
She stuck out her tongue and quickly ran out of the room.
She carefully closed the door behind her.
Adrian watched for a moment.
He walked slowly to the bed and sat down.
The atmosphere between them became subtly and suffocating.
Neither knew how to break the silence.
Anna pressed a hand to her aching chest.
A sour emotion churned inside her, threatening to consume her.
What was wrong with her?
Hearing their engagement was postponed actually made her feel relieved.
She must be really sick.
Adrian's eyes fixed on the wound on her neck.
His blood pressure spiked instantly.
"Is this how Lucas Evans takes care of you?"
"Your judgment in people is this poor now?"
He didn't know why the thought of her liking such a waste infuriated him.
He wanted to drag that guy over and punch him hard.
Outside the door, Lucas Evans had just finished handling the troublemakers.
He happened to arrive at the room and heard their conversation.
He stopped abruptly.
Anna didn't understand why he was angry.
She looked up at him. "What's your problem? What does this have to do with Lucas?"
She couldn't take it anymore.
This man kept bringing up Lucas over and over, as if he owed him something.
Adrian crossed his long legs and leaned back.
He sneered sarcastically. "Isn't he your boyfriend?"
"He can't even take care of his own girlfriend. What's wrong with me saying a few words?"
"Are you心疼 for him?"
"Who said he's my boyfriend!" Anna was so angry she almost jumped out of bed.
Every conversation with him exhausted her mentally and physically.
Adrian froze for a moment.
Something flickered in his eyes.
Anna simply turned away.
She said, "I'm in a lot of pain right now."
"I don't have time to argue about this dull thing with you."
"Mr. Sinclair should hurry back and accompany your Fiancée."
By the end, she couldn't help sounding angry.
Even she couldn't explain where this emotion came from.
Adrian's eyes slightly lifted at the corners.
A smile gradually appeared on his lips.
Was she Jealous?
"Didn't you like that Lucas Evans the most?"
"Why hasn't he come to see you yet? It seems he doesn't care about you."
He had already noticed the figure moving outside the door.
He just didn't understand why the person didn't come in.
Since that was the case, he didn't mind adding fuel to the fire.
Anna couldn't take it anymore.
She sat up, enduring the pain, and pointed at the door. "Get out!"
"I don't want to hear you say anymore... Mmm."
Her eyes widened in disbelief at the handsome face suddenly close to hers.
Adrian closed his eyes, cupped the back of her head, and sealed her protests with his lips.
He pulled back slightly.
Anna wiped her lips hard and scolded, "Adrian Sinclair, you asshole!"
Before she could finish, he lowered his head again.
He completely seized her slightly parted lips.
Anna was too shocked to speak.
This was a hospital.
People were coming and going outside.
