Howard Lowell snorted coldly.
This guy was definitely more than just a friend.
"If you're friends, why didn't we know about it?" Howard's tone was aggressive.
Anna Ross found it ridiculous.
He was never close to her.
It was perfectly normal for him not to know her friends.
Lucas Evans smiled. "Yuan Yuan and I haven't seen each other much since college. It's normal you wouldn't know."
Howard's lips curved faintly. He said nothing more.
Anna ignored him and turned to chat with Vivian Lowell.
Vivian had been in good spirits lately.
The pallor on her face was gone, replaced by a healthy glow.

His smile was broad but insincere.
Adrian walked past Lucas with the breakfast.
He went straight to the bedside and handed it to her.
"Eat something first."
Vivian moved aside on her own, standing next to Howard.
Anna took the breakfast and began eating with her head down.
She was indeed hungry.
"Yuan Yuan, do you want some water? I'll get it for you." Lucas was completely blocked by Adrian and couldn't see the person on the bed.

"No need. She's my subordinate. Fetching water isn't your concern." Adrian refused first and stepped forward to pour a cup of water.
"...Thank you." Anna's eye twitched slightly. She took the water but didn't drink it.

Neither of them gave her a chance to refuse.
Howard watched for a moment, clearly sensing the tension.
He laughed it off. "Xiao Chuan is very thoughtful, Anna. You should thank your cousin properly. Take him out for a meal when you have time, understand?"
Before Anna could speak, Adrian responded first.
"No need for formalities, Uncle. If she really wants to thank me, she can put more effort into her work at the company."
Howard's face instantly stiffened.
