No matter how poor she was, she would never make money that way. Now that she had successfully applied to the Holland Group, she was determined to work her hardest first to become an official design assistant and eventually a designer.
Samuel suddenly realized something, furrowing slightly. He asked, "What do you think I do?"
"Someone who tricks naive college girls into becoming prostitutes," Layla replied irritably.
She finally understood why she kept running into him. It was all a conspiracy from the start.
He not only dealt with women but also with men. No wonder he was so rich.
"Doesn't your conscience hurt from making this kind of dirty money?" Layla laughed. "Of course not, because you don't have a conscience."
Samuel was left speechless by her theory.
The Bentley stopped at the school gate.
Samuel instructed, "Be good. Don't run around."
"I'm not your puppet. I'll go wherever I want. You can't control me," Layla said as she got out of the car.
Samuel couldn't help but laugh. She looked obedient, but she wasn't a compliant girl.
He suddenly looked forward to seeing her at the company tomorrow.
The days ahead would definitely be more interesting.
In the BMW, Vincent watched Layla run out of the white Bentley, frowning.
"Isn't that Layla? When did she get to know rich people? Could the rumors at school be true that she became a wealthy man's mistress?" Emilia said cautiously.
Vincent's face darkened.
Emilia spoke up, "Vincent, I was afraid you'd accuse me of gossiping, so I never dared to tell you. Layla isn't as well-behaved as she appears in front of you. Many times after you dropped her off at the dorm at night, she would put on makeup and go out again, returning in the middle of the night smelling of alcohol."
Of course, these were lies Emilia made up.
Emilia knew Vincent was only infatuated with her body and sexual skills; his heart was still with Layla.
Today, though he had asked her out, Vincent barely spoke and wasn't intimate with her.
Vincent restarted the car.
"Where are we going?" Emilia asked in a panic.
Vincent replied, "Hotel."
Emilia smiled smugly; sometimes, slandering others like this worked.
On her first day at work, Layla got up early to go to the Holland Group.
"The internship salary is $3,500, and $6,000 after becoming permanent. Any questions?" The HR manager asked.
Layla replied, "No problem."
The Holland Group's salary was considered high. More importantly, Layla could gain valuable experience there.
The HR manager had her sign the contract and explained the company's levels of designers and the number of people at each level.
At that moment, a stylish beauty with burgundy wavy hair, around twenty-eight years old, walked in. She asked, "Didn't you say you found me a new assistant?"
The HR manager introduced, "This is her, Ms. Hudson..."
"Ms. Hudson, nice to meet you." Layla quickly stood up, a bit excited.
It was no surprise that Layla knew her. Molly Hudson was known as a top figure in the design world because of her beauty and had many male fans.
Wearing nearly 4-inch high heels, she looked at Layla arrogantly and disdainfully and asked, "Is it you?"
Layla replied, "Yes, you gave a lecture at our school last year."
"Cut it. Are you sure you're capable of this job? You don't look very smart," Molly said doubtfully.
Layla had a baby face, and to appear more mature, she wore black-framed glasses. Despite her efforts, she was questioned for not looking smart.
"Ms. Hudson, you'll know whether I'm capable or not once you try me out," Layla said politely but confidently.
