Chapter 11

Molly remarked, "You're quite confident. I have high standards. I've gone through three or four assistants in a month. Be prepared, but I don't think you'll last a week."

Layla explained, "I..."

"Alright, talk is cheap. Let's see what you've got." Molly walked out of the office, and Layla hurried to follow.

Molly rattled off ten tasks in one breath, then paused to ask, "Got it?"

Layla nodded and replied, "Yes, I got it." Luckily, she had won memory competitions as a child.

Molly didn't believe her, thinking, 'she was lying.' She reminded Layla that one mistake would get her fired.

Layla immediately got to work.

When she was struggling to carry two boxes of blueprints up to her nose, she squeezed into the elevator.

Layla's hand slipped, and just as the blueprints were about to spill out, a hand steadied them, covering her hand.

"Thanks." Layla gratefully looked up at the tall figure in front of her, but the moment she saw the man's stern face, she froze.

"It's you!" Layla was startled, forgetting she was still holding the blueprints.

The two boxes of blueprints fell on her foot, making her wince in pain. She muttered, "That hurts."

"Are you okay?" Samuel inquired.

"Don't touch me." Layla, enduring the pain, hurriedly pushed his hand away and nervously asked. "What are you doing here?"

"Are you that excited to see me?" Samuel, accustomed to women throwing themselves at him, found it refreshing that Layla was avoiding him. He smiled coldly and stepped closer.

"Don't come any closer." Layla took a step back. "Are you stalking me?"

She added, "You're not getting anything from me. Don't think you can trick me. Leave immediately."

Samuel's cold face broke into a faint, amused smile as if a hunter had found an interesting prey, and he stepped closer.

The little prey's reaction was quite cute. It was worth it for this workaholic, Samuel, to take time out to see her.

"Don't come any closer." Layla was already backed into a corner, nervously warning him.

As he reached out, Layla instinctively fought back, throwing a punch.

However, she didn't expect him to be quick and catch her fist, twisting her arm behind her back. Daring to fight him only made him more eager to conquer her.

She groaned.

Samuel leaned close to her ear and said playfully, "So you're quite the fighter, huh?" He almost forgot her family owned a martial arts school.

Layla struggled but couldn't break free. Though she knew boxing, she was no threat to him. She hadn't expected to encounter a master.

The next second, Samuel pinned her against the elevator wall.

As soon as Layla seized an opportunity, she reached out to push him. However, she didn't expect Samuel to be teasing her, and he quickly pinned both her hands above her head against the elevator wall.

So, she became a little bird with broken wings, unable to move. Her face flushed with anger. She continued to struggle with all her might.

Layla shouted, "What kind of skill is it to bully a woman? Let me go..."

Watching her pink lips move, Samuel felt a bit of an itch.

Compared to cursing, those lips were more suited for kissing.
