Chapter 12

Samuel's life was little interested in women. The women around him all had the same obsequious faces. No matter how beautiful they were, they were all dull.

Perhaps there was once someone different, but in the end, she only showed him the selfishness of human nature.

However, Layla was the only woman who intrigued him both physically and mentally from the moment she appeared.

Having encountered such an interesting little prey, Samuel naturally wouldn't let go.

"Being too stubborn will get you into trouble," Samuel said, holding her wrists and examining her flushed, angry face. His voice was magnetic as he reminded her.

"Do you expect me to swallow my pride when bullied? If you push me too far, I'll do something drastic." Layla glared at him. Though she was gentle and kind, she had a temper after being harassed repeatedly.

"You've got quite a temper." Samuel's cold eyes showed a hint of deeper meaning. She was indeed a disobedient little rabbit that needed proper education.

Samuel continued, "Do you want to bite me? Go ahead and try."

"If you keep this up, I'll call security," Layla warned.

"Would you dare? Aren't you afraid of people finding out about our relationship?" Samuel retorted. He knew her weakness well.

Sure enough, Layla's face turned pale.

With a rare chance, she was fortunate to be hired by the Holland Group. If anyone found out about that night, she might be dismissed for having a chaotic personal life. She couldn't afford that risk.

Layla deeply regretted getting involved with such a troublesome man, unable to shake him off.

"What? Do you need me to call security for you?" Samuel asked, reaching for the alarm.

Layla anxiously grabbed his hand and said, "What do you want? I'm just a poor intern. You won't gain anything by stalking me."

He defended, "I'm not stalking you."

Layla questioned, "Then why are you here? Don't tell me you work here."

Samuel didn't deny it. He did work here; the company was his.

Layla was surprised for a second, then frowned. "Are you kidding? Sex worker, pimp, office worker-how many identities do you have?"

He worked both day and night. Did he ever sleep?

"The able are always busy," Samuel replied.

Layla was speechless.

She figured he must have been arranged to get in through connections.

She never expected that even a multinational conglomerate like the Holland Group would have people getting in through connections.

She, a top graduate with four years of scholarship, was actually working with the sex worker. It was quite demeaning.

Layla pouted and huffed, "What are you even good at?"

He teased, "I'm good at many things, as you well know."

Layla instantly understood, blushing furiously. She remarked, "Stop being a pervert."

"What did I say? Don't have such a dirty mind." Samuel tapped her forehead.

Layla slapped his hand away. She retorted, "Who's dirty? You're the dirty one."

Samuel said, "That night, you were the one who forced me..."

"Don't say it!" Layla quickly covered his mouth. She knew he was about to bring up that night again. Couldn't he forget about it?

With her small hand covering his mouth, Samuel smiled faintly.

The naive little girl was so easy to tease, with all her emotions written on her face. After seeing so many fake masks, this genuine face was particularly pleasing.

Maybe that was one of the things that attracted him to her.

The heat of his lips burned Layla's hand, and she quickly let go. Those indifferent, thin lips were surprisingly warm.

She suddenly wondered, 'What is he like in front of others? Is he a very aloof person? After all, his face looks very unapproachable.'

If she hadn't interacted with him, she would have thought he was out of her league and wouldn't dare to approach him.

Her intuition told her he wasn't a simple man, and she should avoid getting involved with him.

Layla steadied herself and spoke up, "In the same company, let's pretend we don't know each other."

Did she try to draw a line again? Samuel raised an eyebrow and asked, "What if I don't agree?"
