Layla anxiously grabbed her phone and hung up. "What are you doing?"

"Don't you want to know the truth?" Samuel looked puzzled.

'Could it be that I misunderstood him?' she thought.

Reluctantly, Layla bit her lip and said, "Maybe you two have already planned this."

Samuel laughed louder, shaking his head. "Women have wild imaginations."

"Men are too good at lying." Layla threw the phone back into his lap.

"So you think I'm lying to you?"

"What if I have evidence that I'm not?"

"It doesn't matter to me either way," Layla stubbornly replied, pretending to be indifferent.

"Tell me, what if I can prove it?" Samuel insisted.

Layla casually said, "Then I'll treat you to dinner."

"It's a deal."

Samuel casually took out his phone, opened an email, and showed her two photos. In the pictures, a handsome man and a beautiful woman were riding a horse. The man was holding the woman from behind,, clearly deeply in love. And that woman was the same beauty from last night.

'Are they a couple? Was he the person she mentioned on the phone?' she thought.

Layla's head buzzed. A big misunderstanding had occurred.

"The boyfriend she mentioned on the phone is this guy. She showed me these photos before she went back to her country last week. She contacted me this time to share the news of her new relationship. So, you misunderstood me."

"This kind of photo can be easily faked. I can create a hundred of them in a minute." Layla firmly refused to admit she had made a mistake.

"With your eye for detail, do you really think photoshopped images could fool you?"

"You found someone quite skilled, huh? Besides, email timestamps and everything can be altered, and with your abilities, you can change whatever you want. I'm not a fool."

"You're not a fool. You're a little troublemaker, making false accusations and tormenting me." Samuel reached out to pinch her nose.

"Hey, don't touch me."

"Do you believe me?"

"No."

"Do you believe me?" Samuel asked again.

"No, I don't."

"Then touch my heart and see if I'm lying." Samuel grabbed her hand, pressing it against his chest where Layla felt firm muscles, blushing deeply. "Stop, Mr. Vandella is here."

"Samuel."

"Do you believe me?" Samuel asked again, holding her hand against his chest.

Layla anxiously exclaimed, "I believe you, okay?"

"If you don't believe me, I can keep proving it with my 'conscience.'"

"You have no conscience," she retorted, feeling the tingle from his well-built pectoral muscles.

"I would be happy to prove it to you again," Samuel said as he reached out to grasp her hand. Layla hesitated for a moment and hurriedly exclaimed, "There's no need. I believe you."

'Such a jerk!' she thought.

"Since you believe me, then honor your promise. You said if I could provide evidence, you would treat me to dinner."

Layla stayed silent, pretending she hadn't made such a promise.

"Are you trying to back out?"

"I didn't say that," she huffed.

"Mr. Vandella," Samuel called out, and Mr. Vandella promptly cleared his throat and spoke in a serious tone, "At 6:25, Miss Adkins promised that if Mr. Holland could provide evidence, she would treat him to dinner."

"See? You can't back out now."

Layla felt frustrated. "Fine, I'll treat you. But do you dare to eat at a small diner?"

"As long as you dare, I'm willing to eat there."

"Don't regret it."

"I won't."

Night fell.

At a roadside diner, the chubby male owner was bustling around cooking.

A young couple was busy having food, and the girl suddenly looked ahead, stunned. "Wow, that man is so handsome!"

The boy took a sip of cola and looked over. "Who's more handsome than me? Damn, he's really handsome!"

"Wow, it's the first time I've seen a man driving a Rolls-Royce to a diner. So cool." The girl's eyes sparkled, and then she glanced at her boyfriend disdainfully. "You'll be working your whole life to be able to afford a car like his."

"You're overestimating me. I can't even afford the watch he's wearing."

"Why is there such a big gap between people? Rich people come to diners for fun. We come because it's cheap."

"Eat your food and stop daydreaming. His girlfriend is much prettier than you."

"Hmm, rich men always like young and pretty women." They kept gossiping.

The chairs at the diner were low, and Layla sat down, glancing mischievously at Samuel's long legs. "Sorry, Samuel, this isn't a fancy restaurant. With a budget of a hundred dollars, this is the best I can do. You chose to come here, anyway."

"Last time, the budget was a thousand dollars. Now it's only a hundred dollars?" Samuel unbuttoned his suit.

"Yes, you're only worth a hundred dollars." Layla nodded seriously.

Samuel couldn't help but smile, implying, "My performance is worth more than a hundred dollars, right?"

"Mind your words. We're in a public place," Layla reminded.

"Alright, let's keep it polite."

After the chubby owner served the food, wiping his sweat, he asked, "What would you like to eat?"

"Something spicy."

"You can't handle too much spice," Samuel reminded.

"I'm the one treating, so I decide. Sir, bring some spicy dishes."

"Alright."

Samuel looked at her helplessly. Layla was the epitome of a spoiled girl in every sense.

"You're not as obedient as you were when you were jealous earlier."

Blushing, Layla denied, "I wasn't jealous."

"Are you sure?"

"I wasn't."

"Ok. You weren't jealous."

Samuel's smile only made Layla more frustrated.

After the dishes arrived, Layla eagerly took a bite, her face lighting up with satisfaction.

Since her pregnancy, she had been paying special attention to her diet, sticking to nutritious and bland food. She had been craving something flavorful for a while.

"It's too spicy. Don't eat too much. It's bad for your stomach."

"Don't worry. I can handle it. It's not even spicy enough." Layla quickly took the water Samuel handed her and took a big gulp.

Samuel looked at her with a caring yet helpless expression. "Stop eating."

"I can't waste it."

Upon hearing this, Samuel hesitated for a second before taking off his fancy suit, rolled up his sleeves, revealing his toned arms, and then started eating.

Layla stared at him in shock, astonished. She thought he would elegantly use a fork and knife, never touching the food. She didn't expect to see him turn red from the spice.

"Are you okay?"
