In the corridor, Layla was lost in thought, organizing her thoughts in her mind.

Fanny always had malicious intentions toward Layla. As for what exactly did Fanny want to do this time, Layla seemed to have no clue and couldn't quite grasp it.

Cassandra was touching up her lipstick in front of the mirror, a smug expression on her lips.

An hour before the end of the workday, Layla received a Facebook message from Samuel asking her what she wanted to eat tonight.

Samuel replied, [Overtime.]

At the end of the workday, amidst the meaningful and malicious glances of her colleagues, Layla walked out of the company. As soon as she stepped out, she received a call from Samuel.

"Overtime?" Samuel's magnetic voice was gentle and deep.

Layla's ears blushed slightly. "Yes. I just got a project, and I need to go on-site for measurements."

"Until what time? I'll come pick you up."

"No need, not sure what time yet. I'll take a cab back when I'm done." Layla hailed a taxi and got in.

"So we can't have dinner together tonight?"

"That's right."

Hearing Samuel's somewhat regretful sigh, Layla teased, "Are you that clingy?"

"Yes, I'd love to be with you twenty-four hours a day."

The driver cast a glance through the rearview mirror. Layla quickly covered her smile but couldn't hide the sparkle in her eyes and the blush on her face.

Layla covered her face with her small hand, turned to the side, and muttered, "Rogue."

She hung up the phone.

Seeing herself in the mirror, Layla was elated.

"Young lady, were you talking to your boyfriend?"

'Is it that obvious?' she thought.

Layla was easily embarrassed and replied, "Just a friend."

"So, a developing boyfriend," The driver, in a knowing manner, said. "Oh, I really miss that feeling. Love is so sweet. Cherish it because once you're married, it's all about the mundane things in life, not as sweet."

But Layla thought that even if they got married, it would still be sweet as they wouldn't have to worry about money.

Thinking this way, it seemed they were better than ordinary people. The economic foundation wasn't everything, but it was quite important.

Layla exchanged a few jokes with the driver and arrived at the bar, just a ten-minute drive from the company.

Pushing the door open, a sign saying "Under Renovation" hung at the entrance of the bar.

Inside, the lighting was dim. The walls were smashed through, and the place was a mess.

Glancing around, Layla estimated the main hall to be over a thousand square meters.

A man in his early twenties, smoking and wearing ear studs, approached. "Beauty, here for an interview?"

Layla recognized him at a glance as Ava's companion, whose demeanor was too distinctive.

"Are you here to apply as a hostess? You're quite pretty." The man's wicked gaze lingered on Layla, especially on her chest. "Your outfit is quite unique, a uniform style. I like it."

"I'm the owner here, Jacob Reed. Just call me Jacob."

"Our bar will open in two months. Many girls have already greeted me, all wanting to work here. What skills do you have? Show me."

"To work here, being pretty isn't enough. You also need to make men happy and make them spend money. Can you make me happy first? If I'm happy, the job is yours. How about it?"

Jacob vulgarly blew a smoke ring toward Layla's face. She frowned and avoided it. Jacob laughed heartily, "Girl, being so shy won't work here." He reached out to touch her face, but Layla slapped his hand away.

"I'm the designer hired by Ms. Claire," Layla said.

"A designer? You?" Jacob's hand froze, surprised. "Designers nowadays are so beautiful." He pondered, 'Could Layla be sent by Ava, that fat woman, to test me?' Ava had done similar things before, so he was wary of this.

"I'll start measuring." Layla didn't bother with such people and began working.

Jacob smoked, silently observing Layla. He initially thought she was a 'spy', but her every move was professional. She ignored him and didn't seem like a fake.

'Could she really be a designer?' he thought.

Jacob remained cautious and skeptical, observing for a while longer, becoming more and more restless.

Jacob had seen all kinds of beautiful women, but they were all just good-looking, empty-headed vases, none like her. Her every move was professional, oozing special charm.
