Chapter 5
The red-haired rich kid cursed and raised his hand, trying to slap her.
Layla curled up in fear, but his hand was stopped mid-air.
All they heard was the red-haired rich kid screaming in pain, "Let go. My hand is going to break... it hurts so much..."
Layla looked up and saw only Samuel's jawline. Strong and imposing, he stood behind her like a king.
Layla was shocked. She didn't expect him to step in and save her.
Samuel released the almost broken hand.
"Who are you to meddle in my business!" The red-haired kid clutched his hand in anger.
"No one dares to talk to me like that." Samuel furrowed, his tone cold and domineering.
A man said, "Sir, he's Mr. Holland. We should leave now."
"Mr. Holland? I'm sorry. I'm sorry..." The red-haired kid quickly bowed his head in apology and fled in a panic.
"Owen..." Layla timidly reached for Owen's hand.
"Don't you touch me." Owen harshly pushed her hand away and left with them.
Layla suppressed the bitterness in her heart, expressed her gratitude, and left.
"Your first time playing hero, but too bad the little bunny didn't appreciate it," Joseph teased.
Samuel was not one to meddle in others' affairs; it was clear he was interested in this little bunny. It was strange. Wasn't he supposed to avoid women?
However, it was just a game. The Holland family heir could never be involved with a barmaid. Samuel was too wise to do such a thing.
Besides, he was already engaged.
At 3 a.m, Layla finally left the noisy bar.
She had a headache, tinnitus, and an even more exhausted heart.
Layla thought, 'Owen and I are half-siblings. Owen is spoiled by their parents, unambitious, and often gets into trouble. Our relationship is terrible. However, tonight, he allowed those rich kids to harass me, making me feel very hurt. No matter what, we are family. At least, I consider him as my brother.'
The sudden sound of a car horn interrupted her thoughts.
A black Rolls-Royce. The back window rolled down, revealing a cold face.
"Get in the car," Samuel said. He didn't know why, but he was worried she might get bullied, so he had been waiting here.
Seeing Layla walk out looking saddened, he couldn't help but call out to her.
She thought, 'It is him again, the sex worker.'
Layla was in a bad mood and didn't want to get entangled with him.
Layla quickened her pace, hearing the sound of a car door opening behind her, and started to run.
Samuel remarked, "Either get in the car willingly, or I'll drag you in."
He grabbed her backpack from behind.
"Let go of me." Layla struggled.
"Still trying to run? Do you believe I'll break your legs?" Samuel angrily pressed her against the wall, pinning her hands above her head.
Women always flocked to him, but this was the first time he had chased after a woman. She had broken too many of his firsts.
At this moment, Layla was like a bird with broken wings, only able to twist her body. She shouted, "Let go, or I'll call the police!"
Samuel said, "Try it."
Layla's eyes flared with anger. She said, "Who do you think you are? You're a sex worker. What are you so arrogant about?"
She still thought he was a sex worker. Samuel suddenly became curious about her reaction when she found out his true identity. It would be quite a show.
Samuel ordered, "Get in the car. I have something to say."
Layla refused, "We're even now. I have nothing to say to you."
Samuel had no patience to argue with her and directly shoved her into the car.
