Anna assumed it was a work-related call.
But a deep male voice spoke instead, "Come to my office."
The line went dead immediately.
Her smile vanished instantly.
He really knew how to order her around.
Why hadn't he made it clear during their earlier call?

She knocked and entered the office.
Adrian Sinclair lounged lazily in his chair.

He stopped when she entered.

"Nothing urgent."

"I just noticed that in my absence."
"You seem quite comfortable."
He stood and moved closer to her.
"Not only leaving on time."

She stepped back, glaring at him.
"Of course I can't compare to you."
"Returning to a fiancée's devoted care."
She regretted the words as soon as they left her mouth.

"Could it be jealousy?"
"My fiancée's concern is natural."
"You seem overly invested."

She bit her lip, retorting, "Who's jealous!"
"You started this."
Adrian's lips curved slightly.
She really refused to admit defeat.
He studied her for a moment.
Then turned toward the floor-to-ceiling window.

He still hadn't given her an explanation.
